On the edge of the city centre and bordering the sea rises the luscious green mountain of Montjuïc (213m/700ft). Crowned by a fortress built on its summit, it is the largest and most frequented recreational area within the city. With simply stunning views of the whole city and the sea, not only is Montjuïc  a great place to escape the city for a picnic but also the site of the Olympics in 1992 and the home of the botanic gardens,the MNAC, the Miro Foundation and much more.
